Alexandra Krause holds an MA for teaching French and Italian, an MA in translation for Italian and French and a PhD in translation studies. Her focus is on translation didactics and translation competences. She was previously the deputy head of the Centre for Translation Studies of the University of Vienna, and its study and programme director. She is currently working as a senior lecturer for translation theory at the University of Vienna. She has taken part in several EU projects, including ProMultilingua, AGORA and TransCert. 

As one of the liaison EMT Board members, she works on the annual European Language Industry Survey (ELIS) questionnaires for students and teachers in the field of translation and interpreting, and presents the results. She contributes to the project for a Europe-wide matching platform for potential interns and internship providers based on the results of the AGORA project, as part of the cooperation between academia and the Language Industry Expert Group (LIND).
