Emília Perez is an associate professor in the Department of Translation Studies at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. In 2020 she set up the EMT working group on audiovisual translation and media accessibility training in Europe, and in the same year initiated the cross-border workshop series “From Translation to Accessibility: EMT Train the Trainer Summer School”. Since 2021 she has been a member of the Executive Board of the European Association for Studies in Screen Translation. She is a co-founding member and current editor-in-chief of the journal Bridge: Trends and Traditions in Translation and Interpreting Studies and member of the scientific board for the Journal of Audiovisual Translation.
As a supervisor and subtitler, she works with several dubbing studios, localisation companies and cultural institutions, currently specialising in making content accessible to audiences with specific needs. Back at home, she works closely with the Slovak deaf community, providing expertise and supervision on recent legislative, administrative and cultural initiatives.
