Sabien Hanoulle has been a lecturer in translation in the Department of Applied Linguistics, Translators and Interpreters since 2007. She holds a PhD in Translation Studies (University of Antwerp, 2017) in the field of audiovisual translation and automatic terminology extraction.
She teaches translation of Italian into Dutch, Dutch writing (including plain language), terminology and training for the profession. She is also the traineeship and alumni coordinator for the programme, and vice-chair of the OPEN Expertise Centre for Accessible Media and Culture, for which she conducts various projects in media accessibility.
Before teaching, she worked for about 20 years as an in-house translator and in commercial roles for an airline and private companies.
