As part of this anniversary year, we turn the spotlight on Austrian German and explore its role in translation and multilingualism.
Martina Mayer from the University of Innsbruck will discuss both interlingual translation (between different languages) and intralingual translation and localisation (from Standard German into Austrian German), with a focus on teaching materials and children’s literature.
We will also ask whether Austrian German has a place within the EU. To shed light on this question, four Austrian colleagues who recently joined the European Commission’s Translation Service will share their perspectives and experiences.
