On 27 November, 3 004 students from 716 secondary schools across the EU took part in this year’s Juvenes Translatores contest. Their translations spanned 155 language combinations, covering all 24 official EU languages. These will now be assessed by European Commission translators.

The 27 winners (one from each EU country) will be announced on Thursday 12 February, along with students awarded a special mention for outstanding translations. Students and teachers – and families and friends – can watch the announcement online.

The winners, together with their teachers and parents, will be invited to Brussels for a 3-day visit in March, including the award ceremony.

The Juvenes Translatores contest continues to promote multilingualism and encourage young Europeans to explore the value of translation.
